Mt Bundy Station

Darwin & Top End, NT
The Story

A working cattle station founded in 1911 by Fred Hardy, Top End buffalo hunter and horse racer, on what was then 834 square miles spanning land that's now part of Litchfield and Kakadu. After the bombing of Darwin in 1942, the Australian and American forces fell back to Adelaide River, basing airfields here at Mt Bundy — remnants are still on the property. Twelve kilometres south of Adelaide River, an hour from Darwin. Cottages, glamping, and powered sites; a pool and the Cheeky Bull Bar.
