Shepherds Story
Ross, Tasmania, TAS
The Story
An 1830s sandstone cottage in Ross, restored from its own foundations — two-thirds of the original stone reclaimed from the site. Off-grid solar. Wood-burning stove. Limewash walls, Tasmanian timber, natural fibres. A freestanding oval bath, a wood-fired hot tub under open sky, Wasabi chef knives in the kitchen, a Tasmanian blackwood chopping board. Ross is arguably the finest colonial village in Australia — sandstone, cobbled paths, and elms — and this cottage sits in it like it never left the nineteenth century.
