The Story
A Victorian villa built in the 1870s by Alfred Crisp, timber merchant and Mayor of Hobart, on a hilltop in Glebe overlooking the harbour and kunanyi. The seven main-house rooms are each named after one of Crisp's ten children, furnished with period antiques — Huon pine, cedar, Gothic mahogany. Three heritage cottages and two contemporary pavilions in the garden. Breakfast on the verandah, honesty bar in the drawing room, fifteen minutes' walk to Salamanca. National Trust Award, 1995.
